We trust you enjoy your visit to our beautiful City.
As Novocastrians we know Newcastle is the ‘jewel in the crown’ and we are confident you will come to appreciate its beauty and convenient life style when you visit.

Local sights not to be missed are the Maritime Museum, Fort Scratchley, Nobbys Light House, famous beaches, ocean baths and breathtaking views from King Edward Park to name a few.

Honeysuckle
Honeysuckle is a great area to visit. Honeysuckle is a stretch of harbourfront land offering many recreational activities. Restaurants, cafes, live entertainment, fishing, sailing and kayaking are just some of the possibilities waiting to be explored at Honeysuckle.

Along the waterfront a promenade stretches, allowing visitors to walk, ride or skate its entire length all the way from the stunning mangrove boardwalks of the Carrington Precinct to the historic breakwall guarded by Nobbys Lighthouse.

Maritime Museum
The Newcastle Region Maritime Museum will be centrally situated on Newcastle's harbour foreshore, in an old cargo shed which is currently undergoing restoration. The vision is that it will become a centre of excellence for maritime related education and recreation.

Fort Scratchley
Fort Scratchley in Newcastle in New South Wales was one of the few gun installations in eastern Australia that had an opportunity to fire at the Japanese during World War 2 and exercised that opportunity.

Nobbys Light House
Nobbys Head was the 3rd lighthouse built in NSW. Originally the head was over 90 metres tall, but was reduced twice, 45metres was taken off and the head joined to the mainland. It was levelled and reduced to 32 metres when the lighthouse was built.

Newcastle Beaches
For a large, cosmopolitan city, Newcastle is equipped with a first-class array of beaches. From the crashing waves of the harbour in the north to the shifting, peaky waves of Nobbys Reef and Caves Beach in the south, this is a city where surf is serious stuff. Every March, Newcastle hosts Vodafone Surfest, one of Australia’s biggest surfing events.
